We’re blessed to be in a place that has one of the mildest climates and gentlest weather patterns in the Northeast. That along with some of the finest soils in the world available to grow grapes allows the region to grow lots of different European varieties successfully…. Many of us thought that Merlot might be that variety however in the past few years, with new clonal/rootstock selections, varieties like Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot have really shined. A case could be made that Petit Verdot can make the most interesting and most powerful red wines here….
